Write a short essay of about 300 words on the following question:
'Students should be given more freedom in deciding school rules.' What are your views?
I feel that students should be given some and not all the freedom in deciding school rules. School rules are rules that are to be abided by the students so as to ensure that their behavior is acceptable and that they are disciplined in following the school rules. School students should not have full control over their school rules as most of them lack the maturity to decide on how their school rules should be like. If some immature school students decide the school rules, they may cause lots of trouble and undesirable consequences. However, they should also have the right to be a part of the rules they have to follow.
For example, the school could come up certain school rules and the students could vote for which are the best ones. Or, the students could also decide on some school rules and the school would see which one to allow. Either way, a little freedom for the students to decide on their school rules would not do much harm.
School rules go a lot further than just maintaining appropriate behavior in the school. They train the students in being disciplined, and doing the right thing even if it is the hardest thing to do. It also makes them learn to be more responsible, such as facing the consequences for any misdeeds they commit.
They have to adhere to the strict rules, deadlines for school homework and assignments, be punctual for any school event, and always behave themselves no matter where or when. Having disciplined would help to go very far in the future, as they could accomplish almost anything with discipline.
They must discipline themselves consistently, such as not talking or fidgeting but listen attentively whenever someone is speaking, not eating or drinking in the auditorium and classrooms, not engaging in any sports activities in the school uniform, not wearing the school uniform shabbily, not wearing the school’s sports attire outside the school compound, always wearing the proper, full school uniform in school at any time except for during physical education, and last but not least, study hard and put in their best for everything they do.
In conclusion, I feel that students should not be given full freedom and control over the school rules but only some, such that they would be trained in being disciplined, by following the school rules set by the school, who is definitely more mature and knows what is best for them.
